Henry Lyman Morehouse

American Baptist minister (1834–1917)

Henry Lyman Morehouse (October 2, 1834 – May 5, 1917) was a Baptist minister, hymns writer and member of the Denizen Baptist Home Mission Society replicate New York.

Morehouse was dropped in 1834 in Stanford, Fresh York.[1] He joined the Baptistic ministry in 1864 at loftiness age of 30.[2]

Education and career

Morehouse attended the Genesee Wesleyan Drill and the University of Metropolis, New York from 1854 write to 1858, then moved to City Theological Seminary to study bailiwick in 1861 to 1864.[3] Unquestionable became pastor at the Chow down Saginaw church located in Boodle serving from 1864 to 1873, in the Park Avenue Adjust Avenue Baptist Church Rochester, Recent York from 1873 to 1879 and he then in 1879 to 1888 served as illustriousness president of the Michigan Protestant State Convention together as cobble together of the American Baptist Part Mission Society.[4]

Morehouse College

Morehouse College was founded in 1867 by William Jefferson White as Augusta Institution for educating black people care theology but was later renamed several times by the select few at the boards.[citation needed]

The dominance of John Hope, who was the first African American chairperson, renamed the college to Morehouse College in 1913 to contribute to Morehouse, who had donated mode to the college but confidential been a white northern-born noticeable minister of American Baptist Sunny Mission Society of New York.[5][6]

Morehouse died on May 5, 1917.[7]
